Canada passport online renewal photo
For renewing a Canadian passport online, canada.ca asks for a JPEG between 1200×1800 and 3000×4500 pixels — a 2:3 portrait shape, width to height — between 200 KB and 5 MB.
The tool crops your photo to 2:3 from the centre and keeps it as large as the limits allow. The minimum is high: a typical 12-megapixel phone photo (3024×4032) is big enough, but a photo under 1200 pixels wide after cropping is refused rather than enlarged.

This fixes the file — size, shape and format. It doesn’t check the photo itself (background, lighting, expression, glasses), which the portal also has rules for.
